Cultivating Civil Engineering Professionals with Modern Scientific Thinking


 The School of Civil Engineering at Sanjiang University was established in April 2006 through the restructuring of the former Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Construction Management. Among them, the former Department of Civil Engineering was founded in 1998 and began enrolling undergraduate students in 2005; the former Department of Construction Management was established in 2000 and began enrolling undergraduate students in 2006. In 2025, the School introduced the undergraduate program in Intelligent Construction and Smart Transportation, forming a professional landscape characterized by multidisciplinary development. The School currently offers three undergraduate programs, namely Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Intelligent Construction and Smart Transportation, with an enrollment of over 1,432 undergraduate students. The School deepens its academic development centered on its core strengths: Civil Engineering (a Provincial First-class Undergraduate Program and an Integrated Industry-Education Brand Program) and Construction Management (a Jiangsu University Brand Program). Meanwhile, relying on the provincial science and technology platform - the Jiangsu Provincial Research Center for Low-Carbon Materials and Green Structural Engineering - it focuses on industry frontiers and drives the deep integration of industry, academia, and research. Upholding the fundamental task of "fostering virtue through education", the School remains committed to its orientation toward applied talent cultivation and the innovation of training models, with related teaching achievements winning the Second Prize of the Jiangsu Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. In its talent cultivation, the School emphasizes "Three Integrations": Research-Education Integration: enhancing scientific thinking through undergraduate innovation training projects (with nearly 100 projects approved in the last three years); Industry-Education Integration: strengthening practical skills through over 20 off-campus internship and training bases co-established with industry leaders such as China Construction Eighth Engineering Division 3rd Construction Co., Ltd., China Construction Second Engineering Bureau Jiangsu Branch, China MCC 20 Group Nanjing Branch, China Resources Group, and Longxin Construction Group (Nanjing), alongside the establishment of the Industry School of Intelligent Construction; Competition-Education Integration: winning over 160 national and provincial awards in disciplinary competitions in the past three years, fostering a culture of "promoting learning and innovation through competition". Rooted in societal development needs, the School is dedicated to cultivating well-rounded, high-caliber applied senior technical professionals with an international vision, capable of providing technical services and management in engineering design, construction, operations and maintenance, transportation, and information technology.
