I. Programme Description

To meet the needs of all-round developed talents in production, operation, construction, management and service of industrial and commercial enterprises, this programme aims at cultivating application-oriented expertise with high technical ability and high quality in management of state organs, enterprises, public institutions and other related business units.  Such talents have good command of knowledge of such fields as management, economy and laws. Such talents with modern methods and skills in management can meet the requirements in market economy and knowledge-based economy times.

After graduation, the students can find jobs in the fields of management of production, operation, human resources, economic management, trade management of various levels, in large and medium-sized industrial & commercial enterprises, and in financial institutions and trade enterprises both at home and abroad.

 

II. Learning Outcomes

  . Basic requirements

 1. Have good creative potential and good professional ethics, healthy body and excellent psychological quality.

 2. Get quickly adapted to the practical work in the forefront field of production, operation, construction, management and service.

 3. Pass and obtain certificate of Computer Skills Test I for universities in Jiangsu Province. Be able to use English fluently, be geared up to requirements of overseas further education.

 

 ⅱ.Professional Specifications

1.  Be familiar with the related management principles, policies and regulations of the state industrial and commercial enterprises

2.  Master the basic principles of economics, and the basic theory, basic knowledge of management and business management.

3.  Be strong in language skills such as writing and oral communication, and have the ability of spotting and solving the practical problems of business management.

4.  Have basic understanding of humanities, management, economic, and social science. Skillfully use the job-related word processing and editing techniques with computer.

5.  Realize and solve the practical management problems of industrial and commercial enterprises by using theory management and related management knowledge; update the professional knowledge and upgrade basic capabilities.

6.  Aquire some professional skills of management of production, human resources, quality and marketing.

7.  Master the basic knowledge of modern logistics management, methods and means, Have the planning, organization and control abilities on  material transport, stock, procurement, distribution,  processing etc.

8.  Have the knowledge and convention of international trade business, custody, insurance, settlement and international multimodal transport. Have an initial capacity of business negotiation.

9. Acquire at least one job qualification certificate. As a rule, it’s required to obtain vocational qualification certificate of professional managers. At the same time, encourage students to obtain the qualification certificates of human resources management, marketer, logistician and surveyor.

.Internship

   1.  Cognitive practice

Tour and inspect the practice site, understand the organizational structure, personnel make-up and post responsibilities of industrial and commercial enterprises so as to have sensual recognition and cognition, develop post attachment and get mental and emotional preparation before getting employed in the concerned enterprises. Cognitive practice is scheduled in the course of the delivery of such courses as Principles of Management, Fundamentals of Economics, Corporate Management, Corporate Operation, Organizational Behavior.

    2. Practice

The students should directly get involved in the practice training of industrial and commercial enterprises, such as the practice operation of each module for human resources and each process for financial accounting, the students will experience the work content and labor intensity of management of industrial and commercial enterprises, more importantly, their attitudes of labor can be practiced. It will be mainly arranged in the practice of professional courses, such as Human Resources Management, Financial Accounting, and Corporate Financial Management.

    3.  Graduation Practice (16 weeks)

Practice TitleVocational skills practice for majors of industrial and commercial management

Practice Content: Participate in the daily work, actual workplace management, post-shifting internship of industrial and commercial enterprises in order to enrich students’ expertise, improve their job skills and coordination abilities in dealing with concerned stuff. 

Practice ArrangementGraduation practice is scheduled in 17th and 18th weeks of each semester (2 weeks) and during winter vacation(4 weeks) and in the 6th semester (8 weeks), totaling 14 weeks.  Practice organization takes two basic modes, one is for students to do practice in an enterprise based-in his/her hometown while the other mode is for the college to send the students to do the practice in an enterprise with which the college have kind of cooperation agreement The actual practice will be dully balanced between specialized post practice and integrated practice, with the priority given to the latter type.

Practice siteindustrial and commercial enterprises located either inside or outside Jiangsu Province, with Jiangsu-based enterprise as the majority .  

Practice management and assessment: the practice leadership which consists of heads from both colleges and workplaces will jointly supervise and manage student practice. Throughout practice, leaders of the workplaces are supposed to take the primary responsibility while college teachers are sent over to give regular inspection of students’ practice work.

Both schools and the workplaces will make assessment of the students’ practice work with the assessment done by the workplaces as the basic one. Assessment content includes: professional knowledge, job skills, and the ability to coordinate and deal with corporate governance matters. The results of assessment comprise five grades, i.e. excellent, good, medium, pass, fail. The students who fail in the assessment can’t graduate from college.

Practice can be combined with graduation thesis. 

 

iv. Graduation Thesis (8 weeks)

   1. Objective: To test the students’ degree of understanding and mastery of professional theoretical knowledge, to ensure that our students have acquired the ability of using integrated knowledge and skills, making independent analysis and solving problems through writing either internship report or graduation thesis.

   2. Proposition: graduation thesis proposition should be closely related to the actual work and it consists of general papers, investigation reports, and project planning and so on.

   3. Writing: Under the guidance of the instructors, students are required to independently account the entire contents of the tasks undertaken, including inquiry and collection of relevant information and material through social surveys and professional internships; the preparation of the outline; paper drafting; modification and editing.

   4. Requirements: subject-specific, well-argued, vigorous discussion, clear ordinance, accurate reference, with some innovative and practical value, with a length of not fewer than 6000 words.

   5. Thesis Defense: Thesis defense will be sampled on the basis of written review, the graduation thesis will be evaluated by an assessment group more than three experts or instructors. The results will be divided into five grades, i.e. excellent, good, medium, pass, fail.
